  • Perfect marriages, perfect partners - A myth?

Last post: Bernadette on 14.06.12 at 09:54

I think that there ARE long-standing couples. However, it seems as though so many marriages are ending these days. I think this is really really sad. The majority of my friends have parents who have split and it amazes me! Why get married if you can't commit???

I don't think marriages/partnerships would be happier if there were rules to follow, the relationship would be no fun!

You mentioned that there are diversity in relationships - i agree and I think this is completely normal these days. Some relationships suit some more than others, some like to be much more independent..I do think time has changed as I look at peoples grandparents and they're still together - why change now?!!! • Save keeping photos

Last post: Bernadette on 30.04.12 at 10:26

Yes, save them on an external hardrive, thats probably the best option! :). Its sad when people steal laptops etc...cause its never the money that the laptop cost that bothers us...its more the value thats on the, videos, university work (or work work) etc etc.

When the floods happened in the far north in 2007, my mum lost heaps of photos and video tapes etc :( Which sucked..but for Christmas 2008 or 09 i purchased this really pretty handmade photo album - made from recycled paper etc...and filled it with printed pictures (from those machines at the warehouse/harvey norman etc) from our childhood for my dad - he absolutely loved it :) Read more about Save keeping photos

  • More than real: Where are the movies taking you with special effects?

Last post: Bernadette on 30.04.12 at 10:21

I must say I am not a big fan of 3D. I have gone quite a few times...seen some great films and I think it wrecks the overall experience! I don't like it how other parts go blurry and it just seems unrealistic..but maybe I need to go see Avengers in 3D. Looks like a fantastic movie! But if it were me, I'd probably rather see a movie in 2D.

As with the 3D TV phase...I literally don't see the point in it? Sounds crazy, considering I'm born in the 90's...everyone my age seems to think this sort of stuff is amazing!! I even have a friend that purchased a 3D tv.....Mind you, I am always the one thats behind in the technology side of 5years time I'll probably get an ipad when something "a trillion" times better has come out!! I prefer PS1 games to any other consoles...I guess I just like the simple things in life :) Read more about More than real: Where are the movies taking you with special effects?

  • The Five Year Engagement Giveaway

Last post: Bernadette on 30.04.12 at 10:16

Ooooh I really want to see this movie and bridesmaids is a terrific movie!!! I heard Jason Segel had to lose like 15kgs to get the role for the movie...because apparently Emily would not want to marry him in real life if he was that weight. Sounds ridiculous to me! :). But I seriously gotta see this movie ;), seen the trailer...looks great!! Read more about The Five Year Engagement Giveaway

  • Tiredness....How do we keep ourselves going?

Last post: Bernadette on 08.04.12 at 19:39

I agree ^. Its good not to overdo a 'nana nap' though...cause you can often wake up feeling even more tired !!

Here is something I found interesting...It does surprisingly, show that a 2-5minute nap can help in shedding sleepiness...

THE NANO-NAP: 10 to 20 seconds. Sleep studies haven’t yet concluded whether there are benefits to these brief intervals, like when you nod off on someone’s shoulder on the train.

THE MICRO-NAP: two to five minutes. Shown to be surprisingly effective at shedding sleepiness.

THE MINI-NAP: five to 20 minutes. Increases alertness, stamina, motor learning, and motor performance.

THE ORIGINAL POWER NAP: 20 minutes. Includes the benefits of the micro and the mini, but additionally improves muscle memory and clears the brain of useless built-up information, which helps with long-term memory (remembering facts, events, and names).

THE LAZY MAN’S NAP: 50 to 90 minutes. Includes slow-wave plus REM sleep; good for improving perceptual processing; also when the system is flooded with human growth hormone, great for repairing bones and muscles. Read more about Tiredness....How do we keep ourselves going?

  • Poisonous Plants - any in your garden?

Last post: Bernadette on 08.04.12 at 13:34

Yeah it worries me that this information isn't being passed down also...I graduated from College (high school) in 2009...and they taught none of this at school! I think its terrible. As humans, we touch lots of things or brush past plants/trees so its so easy to get in contact with poisonous trees....and this can be harmful if people don't have adequate knowledge of what is good and bad...I guess we should all go out thinking all plants and trees should not be touch haha Read more about Poisonous Plants - any in your garden?

Oh this all sounds really exciting!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I love hearing about peoples fun experiences, so thanks for sharing Fi ;)

I can think of a few exciting things that happened last serving some meals to the All blacks and French team at the IRB awards :D However, this isn't recent..

Most recently I went to 'Would I Lie To You' (it screens on Sundays 7pm) and I was apart of the audience for one of them! Was a wicked experience...I licterally walked right past Paul Henry and was way too shy to say hey or have a conversation hahaha :( :(...I am a HUGE fan of him so I was gutted I didn't get his signature or photo or anything. Man, he just cracks me up big time :p. Miss him on breakfast!!!!!!!

I would be interested to hear of other's exciting experiences ;) Read more about Boast away!! And if you don't like boasting, stay away :)
