  I always tell my nieces and nephews when they buy smart phones to turn of unnecessary apps on there phones, and don't allow for updates on anything unless they authorise it.   Yahoo was slow to evolve especially when new primary search engines came on to the internet in particular Google, Google made it plain and simple for net users to search for information and resources but Yahoo had their whole search engine page cluttered and often organised in a weird way, having all of that in one's face when you are primarily wanting to search for info can be a downer for most users, and lets not start with the recent issues of xtra email that is used with yahoo.....I hope they do progress and well, but if there history of innovation and keeping up with the times is anything to go by it could be an up hill battle......
