A balanced diet, enough sleep, ability to manage stress, a degree of cleanliness... they all keep the immune system in tip-top shape to help fight cold viruses and other bugs. However, I've also read that age itself helps as the more viruses that you come into contact with over time (and survive), the more antibodies you have to fight off new bugs! One thing I have noticed over the years, is that although I seldom get sick on holiday, often in the few days after I get home from overseas, I will get a cold!
