Discussing :: Friends with Benefits

If Friends with Benefits sounds somewhat familiar, that’s because it’s pretty much the exact same movie as 2011’s No Strings Attached. Both are R-rated studio comedies with a pair of bankable lead performers, and both are rom-coms concerning the concept of “fuck buddy” relationships. But Friends with Benefits is the superior movie; it’s brighter, funnier and more likeable than the earlier picture, and it stars two appealing lead actors who actually feel like best friends. Effervescently directed by Will Gluck, this is a surprisingly decent romantic comedy which is both entertaining and funny.... read full article

Friends with Benefits

Haven't indulged myself, but I've had a couple of friends who have been in 'friends with benefits' relationships. Unfortunately both relationships ended very badly. I don't know the outcome in the movie , and even if it is a great film, seeing my friends hurt, I'm a little uneasy about the promotion and further 'normalising' of this type of setup.

Same. Haven't seen it end up well, yet.

Friends with Benefits is better than a relationship without the friend factor..... :-)

Is it really? I need to think about that one!

...hmmm I wonder why I didn't comment on this one earlier...because I don't agree....at least if you go in to with our having been friends you go in with out any expectations and history....don't get me wrong their is nothing with being friends before actually going into a relationship but if it is only for 'benefits' that won't work out well especially if one of the two involved meet someone else....and the other doesn't want it to end....even outlining in the start that it is only for the benefits doesn't always mean it ends up that way.....

...nup it is usually never a good ending...emotions play the part and then all hell breaks loose...either remain friends or become something more and if it ends friendship does also....it takes strong people to remain friends after that...but it has been known to happen.....

Friends with benefits sounds like a train wreck in the making....when human emotions are involved there's bound to be someone who'll be nursing a broken heart... I must admit I haven't seen the film but Justin Timberlake has come a long way from the boy band N' Sync to becoming a bonafide actor and Mila Kunis has always been a favourite since her days on That 70's Show... she does humour in a real quirky giggly way without being too over the top.

I had a friend like this years ago. He was lovely, we were very fond of each other, but he was a republican, so nothing could ever happen long term. We didn't get alone very well when we talked much... I don't think I'd really do it now. I have kids and it's not fair on them. And that's just not what I'm looking for.
