Beautiful, Healthy Skin Naturally

Here are some of the things I do to keep my skin looking clear and fresh (I often get compliments on my complexion). The trick is to use as few artificial chemicals as possible and only when necessary. Drinking lots of water, and eating fruit and vegetables regularly is a no-brainer. Also, I've found consistently that if I get 7-8 hours sleep a night, my skin quality improves. I've had problems with acne in the past, but a little vitamin D seems to cure it (although not too much, otherwise it can damage your skin!) When it comes to make-up, I only wear it when absolutely necessary, and take it off with a gentle cleanser as soon as I get home. I use oil-free moisturizers at night, especially in winter so my skin doesn't dry out. What tips do you have? :-)


A lot of people seem to swear by gently rubbing a paste of water and baking soda on their skin. It feels pretty rough to me. Not sure it's a good idea. Also, I found a free way to make black head remover like those strips, you mix glycerine and milk and microwave it (google for instructions) and then when it dries it's meant to peel off and take all the gunk with it. Don't really think that works all that well either. I mostly rely on photoshop after the fact :)

Sliced tomatoes make an excellent face mask as the natural acids in the fruit help to ex-foliate the skin.

Seems silly but for me, someone who has acne prone skin, Proactiv has honestly helped me big time. That and these really nice face masks from Loccitane, can't remember the name.

This probably isn't the most orthodox response, and I'm certainly not recommending this to anyone, BUT it's something I've done to clear up my skin and worked a treat. I went back on the pill! I'm 44 and started to get adult acne, which was very annoying (you can't have wrinkles AND acne, it's not fair!). Tried creams, but most burnt my skin, so after some research, I decided to go back on the pill. Now I have clear skin every day. It's extreme, but there you go.

Drinking 8+ cups of water a day; avoid fried and oily food... both of which are easier said than done!

Moisturise twice a day, and once a week I will do a scrub. I honestly feel that 70% of how your skin looks like comes down to genes. If you have great genes your really lucky.

I think it's down to genes largely too. I'm so careful with my skin but have so much trouble with it! I agree it's essential to moisturise twice a day, at least it's something I never skip!

anyone have any ideas for allergies on face to sweat? since istarted at the gym i keep getting this rash and i think its from the sweat... and or rubbing it off with my hand towel... but it so annoying!!

the things i find best for my skin is moisturiser, exfoliator sunscreen and lots of water..

I agree with sunscreen too. I really like Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry Touch, it's really non greasy so good as a facial sunscreen.
