Ellerslie’s bringing out the best of summer in the infield this Boxing Day! 

Beach, Beats & BBQs combines a day at the beach with your perfect backyard BBQ, laid back summer sounds, beach cricket, chill out areas plus all the excitement of horse racing taking place just metres away!

Beach…
When they say beach, they mean beach! Ellerslie’s shipping in more than 2000m2 of sand and 12,000 litres of water to bring the taste of a Kiwi summer to the infield. This summer’s hottest-contested beach cricket tournament will also play off between races throughout the day.

Beats…
Resident Ellerslie DJ Kieran Bell will get you grooving the day away with a selection of laidback summer sounds on the soundstage. He will be supported by Edge DJ’s Clint Roberts and Kane Hawkins who will be performing themed sets over the course of the day.  

& BBQs….
There’ll be a host of stalls to purchase food from and you're welcome to use New Zealand’s Longest BBQ (for free!) if you would like to cook your own culinary delights. Of course, you're also welcome to bring your own BBQ (just don't forget the fire extinguisher!)

The New Zealand Herald Helpers will help ensure your Boxing Day starts out on the right ‘hoof’ by helping you carry those tricky items from the carpark into the entertainment zone.

Place your bets and watch the horse racing live or on the big screens, pull up a seat at one of the themed bars, have a go at The Ellerslie Swing Ball Park…or just sit back and take in the atmosphere.

Ellerslie’s Alcohol Policy

You're more than welcome to bring along your own food, unopened non-alcoholic beverages, umbrellas, chairs, picnic tables, mini-marquees (and even the kitchen sink!) to the races at Ellerslie but you'll have to leave the stronger stuff at home as Ellerslie is a fully-licensed venue and no BYO alcohol is allowed.
