What girl doesn't love bubbles? This latest addition to the Allan Scott stable is just the ticket to celebrate any type of occasion - in my case an indulgent Sunday afternoon spent with some girlfriends.
"Why not, we deserve it" we said and were completely won over by The Emperor's elegant charms. This fruity methode is 100% Chardonnay and truly reflects the beautiful Central Otago region from where it reigns, offering a citrus-infused aroma of honey and wild herbs making it perfect with seafood. In this case we enjoyed it with fresh snapper caught by friends that morning but I'm already dreaming of matching this bottle of goodness with some fresh scallops in the new season.
The Emperor's stunning presentation is the final touch in the making of the perfect celebratory bottle, yet the price tag is reasonable enough to make it an ideal for a casual Friday night without needing an excuse. My romantic side has certainly been won over by this classic drop and if you love all things glamour and sparkle there's no other reason needed.
Allan Scott Central Otago Emperor 2009 (RRP $33.50) and the full range of Allan Scott wines are available from Hancocks and online at www.allanscott.com
