4 Beauty Tricks for a Gorgeous Valentine’s Day

Whether you’re a believer in the big V Day or not, there’s no denying there’s extra pressure to look your ultimate best. Be it for yourself, your mates or your one true love, we have the all the tricks you need to look your best come February 14th.

1. Glow Baby, Glow!
Lost your healthy sparkle? Pretty up your complexion with a little love predate by popping on a face mask to enhance your skin tone and bring life back into your face. Look for an option that aims to brighten and correct for best results. And if you still want more radiance, apply a crème blush to your cheeks -- when the light hits the creamy texture, it instantly lights up.

2. No-sweat Makeup
February is steamy at the best of times but add in date night nerves and there’s high chance your t-zone will be more sweaty than sexy. Make your makeup last the distance by applying a primer under your foundation and a translucent powder over the top. This three-step system “sets” your base and prevents it from slipping right off. Looking for a new foundation formula? Try a long-lasting, semi-matte finish for best results.

3. Stay-put Lipstick
Let’s be honest, it’s not Valentine’s Day unless there’s some serious smooching involved. But come home time the likelihood of your perfectly applied lipstick still being in place is pretty slim, so let’s talk tactics. Firstly, think about your colour choice: pink and red are the ultimate hot-girl shades but can be hard to maintain. Nude or soft pinks make more sense. If you are stuck on a vivid hue, go for matte-finish formulas over high-shine ones.

4. The Ultimate Tousled Tresses
Granted, sleek styles and perfect updo’s are a favourite on the red carpet, but Valentine’s Day is all about steaming things up. Keep things cool and casual by going for sexy bed-hair that’s perfectly tousled and has lots of movement. Simply work a mousse through damp hair before using a medium setting on your blow-dryer to dry your ends. Once done, use a styling iron to create waves, taking each section in different directions. Voila: Low-maintenance hair that the guys (and girls) totally dig!
