June is our self-declared beauty month here at Chelsey. Inspired by this week’s feature article about Dr. Catherine Stone who has just set out on a global journey to seek the definition of beauty we thought we’d explore a few avenues of the beauty myth ourselves.
Over the next few weeks we’ll try a deeply holistic spa treatment, look into the world of dermal fillers and profile one of New Zealand’s leading stylists.
But this week, it’s over to Miss Cat Stone!
Dr. Catherine Stone is probably best known as the woman who popularised Botox treatments in New Zealand and now she’s off on a different kind of beauty quest.
At a time when Botox-type products are in the news for all the wrong reasons, New Zealand’s Natural Botox Queen is breaking the stereotype and setting out on a journey of discovery to find out what people really think about beauty.
Armed only with an iPad and iPhone she will travel the globe conducting 90 second interviews, asking interesting people from different walks of life the same four questions, with the ultimate question being ‘how do you define beauty?’
“For over ten years we’ve had men and women coming to us for treatments, and it’s amazing how just a few subtle tweaks in their face can have amazing changes in their confidence, which in many cases has a massive positive effect on their life” says Catherine.
“I want to explore the link between physical and inner beauty, and find out more about the different concepts of beauty globally - how do things change with different cultures and life experiences?”
She’s off to a good start, having already interviewed Air New Zealand’s Rob Fyfe and entrepreneur Tony Falkenstein. Next on the list is Oprah. That might be tricky you think, but given that Catherine has met Richard Branson three times and Tony Robbins twice through her networks and persuasiveness, it’s not too hard to see Oprah indulging in one of her 90 second interviews.
Although she’s quick to insist that ultimately it’s not just about the celebrity views.
“I’m really interested in the everyday person’s viewpoint so I’ll be talking to men and women on the street where ever I go, from Bali to New York to the Inca Trail.”
There is a secondary purpose to Catherine’s journey, as in between interviews she will be visiting some of the world’s best medspa’s and reviewing the latest treatments and procedures.
“I’m always on the lookout for the latest developments in Cosmetic Medicine. The Face Place has become synonymous with natural looking non-surgical treatments and we stay at the forefront by continuously researching the best treatments available around the world.”
Catherine left the shores of NZ last week and is already busy loading up videos on her blog. Check them out at www.naturalbotoxqueen.com
