It’s a habit that marketers have fallen into.  Yes we should use the opportunities available to get our message out there.

But do we really need to keep paying exorbitant sums of money to talk to the same exact people? Probably not.

Simply ask for permission.  Permission to talk to them again.

It doesn’t necessarily mean we stop doing the former, it’s just we are missing out on massive value from the latter, the exact people that want to hear from us, that care about us.

    It's not easy to understand what Ben is talking about from a first read of this article. I'm assuming he's talking about using advertising to target shoppers and rather than repeating the general exercise whenever there is something new to say. Perhaps he is talking about using some sort of data base to get feedback from customers and then to send less costly targeted advertising messages (email?) to these shoppers. The message is not particularly savvy although maybe I have incorrectly interpreted what he is trying to say.

    ...have to agree Wice when I first saw the picture and the title I thought it was related to store attendants following you all around the stall trying to get you to buy things you don't need but also watching to see what you are doing.....but then I assumed it was something to do with marketing on a budget, without having to may excessive costs to get messages out relating to one's business but yep am still a but confused by this article and don't no if I like that or not yet....lol

    It's either the wine or the topic that's got me a little bamboozled! Ben if you're talking about marketing to repeat customers then you're probably right by saying that one does not have to keep using the same marketing stragedies but rather a short ,sweet and simple way of enticing your loyal customers or keeping repeat clientele but as far as advertising is concerned social media and facebook are definitely a huge way to go in getting your message out there.
