Are you making the most out of masturbation?

Ladies, it’s time to park your embarrassment at the door and talk frankly about self-pleasure. We’re going to let you in on a little secret, something that you may not believe, that has been kept undisclosed for many years between us girls...ready? Everyone masturbates! Even that friend of yours that never has a hair out of place and has only sworn twice in her life has her masturbatory moments. So here are Sexgear’s top tips for getting the most out of your digital dalliances.

Step One – Get Comfy!

Pop some fresh sheets on the bed and settle yourself into a comfortable position, rest your head back on the pillows and let your legs relax and fall apart. One very important environmental factor to aiding your masturbation mission is to turn the heater on as studies have shown that women cannot masturbate if they are cold. If you need a little extra comfort, feel free to leave all your clothes on except your knickers, you have no one to impress but yourself!

Warm up

Squeeze out a big dollop of lubricant, we recommend Pjur Woman for self-pleasure satisfaction, and apply it over your inner lips and clitoris. Hold your four fingers together and rub the flat surface your hand makes over the entire area. The best piece of advice we can offer is to work around the clitoris, often women prod directly on top of it and make is hyper-sensitive and resistant to orgasm. Often, you’ll find that one side of the clitoris is more responsive than the other, so try and find out if your masturbation swings left or right.

Pay attention to your pleasure

The way to learn what satisfies you is to be aware of the type of stimulation that works for you. So, as tempting as it may be, try not to get lost in the process and monitor what is happening. We strongly recommend holding a mirror down there so you have a better view of what is going on. Is it flicking or stroking that seems to be more appealing?  Do you like a circular motion or a back-and-forth rubbing? Unless you know what pleases you, you’ll never be able to communicate it to a partner, so think of this as an investment in your sex life!

Orgasm is near

In our daily interactions with Sexgear customers, there are a number of women we speak to who are unsure about what an orgasm feels like, many of them think they might have experienced climax but can’t be confident. So, to clarify, the pre-cursor to orgasm is a building sensation in the centre of the clitoris (some women think this is climax, it’s not). As this feeling happens, you need to understand what kind of stimulation catapults this sensation into powerful, delightful orgasm. For some women, pressing harder is necessary at this point, for others, persisting with the same pressure and rhythm is important. At this point, you’ll likely notice your nipples becoming harder, your vagina turning a darker colour and an increase in your natural lubrication (although this last factor is woman-dependant.)

Why hello orgasm!

Just before orgasm, you may feel hot and flushed, this might be indicated by a redness on your chest and face. An orgasm occurs when the blood that's moved to the genitals becomes too intense for that area to handle and heads back to the rest of the body resulting in a  powerful rush of pleasure and muscular contractions in your vagina (note: this is the clitoral orgasmic response, g-spot orgasm feels somewhat different.)  You can expect this delicious feeling to last anywhere between 5-15 seconds so relax into it and enjoy! Once you feel like you really understand your basic masturbation orgasm, you can graduate to advanced techniques, like pressing your feet together for increased tension or staggered orgasm; for the tantric experience.
