The term "dancer's body" doesn't come from nowhere! Dancing is a fantastic way to get great abs, legs, a strong back and arms. I'll bet that everybody wants to learn at least one style of dance. From line dancing to breakdancing, there is something out there for everybody.

You can learn to dance a specific style at a dance school. Or you can try dance fusion classes at your gym or local community centre.

When you dance, it is so much fun you forget that it's exercise. You can dance to your own beat at home, purchase instructional DVDs or even get some friends together to learn a style that goes with your crowd's preferred music. That way the next time your group goes out, you will rock the dance floor. Even better, most dance studios and gyms offer small group discounts.

Dancing makes you feel good and look good. So what are you waiting for, hit the dance floor!

    I want someone to go dancing with! I really think this might be my idea way to get fit. I love to dance but seldom get the opportuntiy. Think I might try just bobbing about to some music sitting here at my computer for starters! Turn up the music! Shut the door and the curtains!

    I have to agree. I want someone to go with! I don't want to go and be the only person there with two left feet...so preferably someone who isn't a natural dancer like me. I think this would be a fun way to get fit.

      No mention of Argentine Tango. Maybe not the best style to use for fitness purposes...but I think it would be rather fun to learn! Need to find someone to drag along with me though...

      I met my other half at a dance, and totally LOVE dancing! If you go along to most dance classes, they rotate everybody round, so you dont need to go with a partner - you'll end up dancing with all the guys anyway! Its a great social event as well as fitness. For anyone in the auckland area, I reckon the best dance classes are run by www.swingfx.co.nz. They run classes in Panmure, Albany, and WEstern Springs ( at TAPAC, not at the zoo lol!). And if you say Fran sent you they MAY give you a half price beginners course, if you are lucky!

      I did some Tango, it said you didn't need a partner, but most people had one, and it was all women without so i generally ended up leading, and meeting other single women. Still fun though.

      I remember having dancing classes at my all girl school. We were only taught dances like the waltz and foxtrot - nothing seductive. and we always had to dance with each other. Att the end of term, a boys school class was invited to join us - all very exciting but embarrassing too., The boys used to have to wear white gloves so we wouldn't have to touch their sweaty hands!

        Sometimes at some of the big dances in the UK, I think that gloves would be a good idea lol! Though alcohol gel is better for killing germs lol! Wish we had dancing at school, as I was terrible at the traditional ball games, but loved music. Might have got into dancing much earlier given a chance - starting at 34 was a bit late, but better late than never!

        Would love to, however like the others, no- one to go with, tried pole dancing once loved it but my girlfriend didn't, and found a burlesque class I loved then 4 weeks into it, they had to close as they had to move back to France, maybe one day I'll find a class and friend to go dancing with and actually stick with it.
