Eating healthy can certainly add up over time. We often think that the only way to eat on a budget is to buy cheap, processed foods, but in the long run these may be more expensive because of the health problems they can cause. There are ways to eat healthy and save money, and this article will give you a few tips on how to do so.

Day 157: Trying to Eat Healthy

Fresh produce can get expensive, and one of the best ways to get great produce for less is to shop at your local farmers market. They often have a great selection of fresh produce for a fraction of the price you would find at a grocery store. If you don't have one close by don't worry, you can still find good prices at your local grocery store. Frozen produce is a great way to go. It will sill give you the food and nutrition you need for less!

Not having enough money for healthy food should not be an excuse to eat out at fast food chains every day. In the long run fast food can add up to be more expensive than healthy whole foods. So rather than stopping off for a quick hamburger try saving the money you would spend there and put it to better use at the grocery store buying healthy whole foods. You will be surprised at how much you will be able to afford.

Avoid buying drinks. This includes soda, alcohol, and juice. Sticking to water is not only free, but it is a lot healthier. Some drinks (juice in particular) may appear to be healthy but are really packed with sugar and high fructose corn syrup.

Planning is the key to shopping for food wisely. Before you go to the grocery store check out the coupons in your local newspaper. They often have great deals on a lot of healthy whole foods.

It is not difficult to eat healthy on a budget. By following the tips mentioned in this article you can eat healthy and save money.
