Rice is a staple food in many countries around the world. Apart from maize, it is the second most consumed food in many household settings. There are two types of rice; white rice and brown rice. While white rice is rice that has gone through lots of processes that have reduced its nutritive value, brown rice only has the top layer removed. So,it is considered a whole grain which makes it more superior to white rice in terms of nutrients. Brown rice is slowly and surely gaining in popularity due to its health advantages over the white rice.
The most striking thing about brown rice is its high quantity of fiber. This fiber serves a great deal in improving the digestive system operation in the body. Fiber in the diet help in providing bulk to digested food in the small intestine.
Brown rice is has all the vitamin B varieties like thiamine, riboflavin and niacin. Vitamin B is mainly known for its ability to help the body in the release of energy. This energy is needed in simple body processes like breathing to very demanding activities like exercise by an athlete. Vitamin B is important for the support of life-- it provides the energy needed for survival. Without this vitamin (and many other necessary vitamins), body functions will slow down.
Since this rice leads to high body metabolism, brown rice makes the body get rid of excess fats. It is a good idea to consume the rice during the day so that the energy will be put to work. At night, the body undergoes basal metabolic rate(BMR), which is a state where very little activity is taking place in the body. The only processes taking place are only those responsible for the support of life such as breathing, blood circulation, beating of the heart and brain function. So, this rice should be eaten during the day so that the body uses the energy instead of storing it (which causes a person to get fat).
Brown rice also contains vitamins E and K which help in the functioning of the body. Next time you want to buy rice, buy this rice. It's the best way to go nutritionally!
