The average person is always on the go. From traffic to meetings to getting family to where they need to be most people hardly have time to rest. Because of this busy lifestyle many people don't eat as healthy as they need to; finding it easier to go through the drive through than make a healthy meal. No matter how busy your schedule might be, it is still possible to eat healthy whole foods. It might require lifestyle changes, but it will be worth it. When you eat healthy with whole foods you have more energy and feel better.
Keep your favorite fruits and vegetables in stock at all times. If you go shopping every weekend make sure that you pick up what you need to make it through the week without running out. If you enjoy carrots or other veggies take time to cut them up into easy to grab pieces. That way you can grab a handful of veggies, or take some of your favorite fruits with you before you walk out of the door first thing in the morning.
Water is essential to any healthy eating lifestyle. It is recommend that you get at least eight glasses of water per day. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times to make sure that you are staying hydrated. Getting enough water will also keep you feeling fuller for longer in the day.
If you snack on the healthy foods that you have prepared for yourself ahead of time you will be less likely to run out and grab fast food. By eating small amounts throughout the day you will stay full. It is also a good idea to try and book eating time. If that means you need to schedule it on your to do list, then do it. Taking care of yourself and your body should be an important priority in your life and daily schedule.
Start your day off right with a healthy whole foods breakfast. Oatmeal is a great food to start your morning on the right foot. You can add nuts or dried fruits into your oatmeal to give it a boost of flavor and protein. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so make sure you make it count.
If you do start to feel hungry while in the office or on the run, avoid the temptation to get something from a vending machine. Vending machines are typically filled with processed foods that are high in sugar, fat, and salt.
Watch your portion sizes. If you do end up going out to eat try and choose a healthy option, or a salad. Ask for your dressing on the side. Often restaurant salad dressings are filled with preservatives. If all else fails make your portions smaller by splitting your meal in half and getting a to-go bag for later.
No matter how busy your schedule it is still possible to eat health whole foods. It can require that you make some lifestyle changes. This can be difficult at first, but after a short amount of time you will start to have more energy and feel better. When you start to see results it will be easier to stay on track.
