Win - Chivas Regal Dan Funderburgh limited edition gift tin

To mix Chivas Regal with ginger beer seems a crime to me. This is a a quality, aged, sipping whiskey to be enjoyed for all its subtlety as is, or at the most with ice or a tiny dash of water. Shame on you Dan Funderbugh - go buy any old whisky if you want to turn it into a diluted soft drink!

Some things are really better with age is old but a truism! I onced squirreled away some Chivas Regal to sip at the top of the highest pass on the Everest base-camp trek I did some years ago - rarely has anything tasted so devine and been so savoured!

Hubbie and I have been refining our whisky tasting of late and learning to appreciate the variies available. Once a week we make a point of pouring a small glass each (well actually about two centimetres) in the evening after dinner and just sipping and appreciating. Hubbie has one sort and I'll have a different one. We drink half then swap.

It's great fun and we've found that it's very interesting how different the flavours and smoothness of different brands and types can be. When my Dad died, my Mum cleanaed out the liquor cabinet and we ended up with quite a few nearly empty bottles so we've been enjoying ourselves with the 'dregs'. Chivas Regal was one of his favourites - one he thought was one of the very best!
