Women in Technology

.....I'd like to think I am a little nerdy when it comes to certain things...and have been known to know a lot more about technology and electronics then some males....lol but I found this article really interesting in the Huffington Post about Women in Technology....is good to see and inspiring I think for others in the industry or in business as a whole.....was also interesting to find out a couple of these tech sites or services I have used before but who would have thought a female would be at the helm....could only be a good thing in my book more women in technology please.....

DR. SEUSS EXPLAINS COMPUTERS

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disc abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report.

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash,
and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash,
and your data is corrupted 'cause the index does not flash,
then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!

If the label on the cable on the table at your house,
says the network is connected to the button on your mouse,
but your packets want to tunnel on another protocol,
that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall,

and your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss,
so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse,
then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang,
'cause as sure as I'm a poet, the suckers gonna hang.

When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy on the disc,
and the micro code instructions cause unnecessary risk,
then you have to flash your memory, and you'll want to RAM your ROM...
Quickly turn off your computer and go and tell your Mom.

A blonde girl enters a store that sells curtains.
She tells the salesman, "I would like to buy a pink curtain in the size of my computer screen."
The surprised salesman replies, "But, madam, computers do not have curtains."
And the blonde said, "Helloooo.... I've got Windows!"

My partner works in IT with about a 50/50 split of males to females which I think is great. Definitely a good career option for young women leaving school.

We need more women in technology. Because there will be less sexual harassment and discomfort when there's more women around.
The lack of women in certain fields leads to harassment and general increased discomfort. This is a bad thing, obviously. Because there will be less discrimination if it's not considered unusual for women to pursue tech careers.

It's a very good subject to discuss. I think we need more women in tech now, it will encourage more girls to pursue their own interest in tech. Having more women in tech now it will mean more female tech leaders and more girls thinking, "hey, this is for me." More people will be able to do what they want, and that's a good thing.
Now I'm looking for a job in Auckland. I started to cooperate with http://potentia.co.nz recruiting company. Before I was working in Australia as Software Engineer for 3 years. Software testing is my passion.
