ha reduce grocery bill... not likely with the rising costs!!

oh but ive changed to meridian... my power bill has halved from mercury!!

I changed to powershop, saved a ton of money. I think. And this year we've managed to heat the house with the fire, not electricity, because we got together with the neighbours and went out in the summer and cut down trees for firewood. Yay awesome neighbours!!

Where there's a will there's a way. I like to get veges from farmers markets. That definitely saves and I would recommend doing that.

yer i dunno where the farmers markets are in Auckland?? but yer i have heard they are better... the prices just keep going up up up!!

Thanks for the list of farmers markets! Yay for fresh produce. Is produce reasonably priced?

I am currently with powershop - they are FANTASTIC! I would definitely recommend them.

I live in Auckland CBD and water is like $90pm. Is that expensive? It seems like a lot to me. Mind you we use the dishwasher etc. How much do you guys pay for water pm?

As for groceries, I literally buy the basics. Fruit and vegetables are way too expensive. But they are a must! I usually have pears/bananas and apples in the apartment. I refuse to buy frozen veges (YUCK!!) Other than that just the basics.....

Is that $90 per month for water? I'm in Hamilton and I don't think we pay anything over and above what the rates are. I'm renting, so I'd assume they would pass on the cost of water if it fluctuated.

I find vegies so much more reasonably priced at farmers markets. We're thinking about Powershop too!

Look the best time to buy bread and bakery items is about an hour before they close because most places like countdown pak n save etc reduce there bakery items so they dont have to throw it out they next day

My partners a former Supermarket Manager and says never ever buy the bigger packs as when the competion pricing is done it is always done on the smaller packs eg more often than not it is cheaper to buy two single packs of say malt biscuits than a twin pack .
