The Amazing Spider-Man.

Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man isn't so much a swing forward from Sam Raimi's films as it is astep sideways.

While there are some wonderful web-slinging moments, it never feels fresh enough to justify itsexistence; especially coming a mere decade after the original.

Andrew Garfield is an appealing Peter Parker, and an even better Spidey, although he doesn't get tocrack wise as much as Tobey Maguire before him.

But Garfield is upstaged - like everyone who dares to star opposite her - by Emma Stone as spunkylove interest Gwen Stacy.

Even when there's a giant Lizard (Rhys Ifans as the mutated Dr. Curt Connors) trashing New YorkCity, it's impossible to take your eyes off her.
