Fruit Kebabs

If you want an exciting and fun way to get your children eating more fruit, these gorgeous Fruit Kebabs are a great way to do it. They are brightly coloured and taste delicious, and they’re so much more exotic than fruit on it’s own as they’re on sticks!

Ingredients

1 cup strawberries

1 cup kiwi fruit

1 cup oranges

1/2 cup strawberry jam

Other fruits can be used (grapes, pineapples, apple, etc)

Procedure

- Prepare the fruits by washing them and cutting them into small pieces. Put the fruits onto a large plate.

- Slide pieces of fruit onto the skewer and design your own kabob by putting as much or as little of whatever fruit you want!

- Do this until the stick is almost covered from end to end.

- Hold your kabob at the ends and roll it in the jam, so the fruit gets covered.

- Repeat these steps with another skewer.

Good idea going through these recipes. I don't rememaber even seeing them before. I often take fruit kebabs to barbecues and they always get gobbled up. I would take off the kiwi skin and the strawberry stalks though so that people could just eat them. Also yummy to sprinkle the fruit with something like Cointreau or rum and have a big bowl of whipped cream to dip the skewers into!

Unless you soak the fruit in booze and dip the kebabs in whipped cream like me!

I occasionally make a variation of these. It's totally heavenly but very messy and needs to be done outside.
                        1. You take pieces of fresh pinapple which you skewer on a metal skewer
                        2. You dip the pinapple in a bowl of rum
                        3. You dip the rum soaked pineapple into soft brown sugar coating it
                        4. You 'grill' the skewered morsel over a flame (I use a tin 3/4 filled with meths)
                        5. When the sugar starts to caramalize, you dip the bite in whipped cream than eat as quickly as possible.

Yum!! But yer,... Way to make fruit unhealthy!!
                      • Fruit kebabs are awesome for kids! We did some "not so healthy" ones for my daughters birthday. We had grapes and marshmallows on skewers with drizzled white chocolate on them, with some pink sprinkles on top! They were a hit!
